Sick to death of speeding drivers? Don't shake your fists, just wiggle your pinkie

I hate speeding drivers - especially in a congested place like London. It's loud, it's noisy, it's just not necessary. Everytime I see a hoon burning rubber down Bethnal Green Road, I think to myself... he must be compensating for something - big time!

Which is why I relate to the new Australian ad campaign seeking to reduce road deaths by questioning the manhood of speeding drivers. Perhaps I could get this played on a big screen billboard.

The shock tactics of previous adverts that showed disturbing images of death and injury in road crashes have not worked, says the New South Wales state government authority behind the ads, the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA).

Exposure to "computer games, modern media ... and horror films" had desensitised many young males to the violent images of those campaigns, RTA spokesman John Whelan told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper.

The good news is that, according to opinion research carried out this week, apparently this is yielding results. I hope the pinkie finger gesture catches on here.

So the next time you see a speeding boyracer hooning down the street, don't shake your fist, just wiggle your pinkie

Hilarious. It'll be interesting to see if it's successful.
